3rd Cultural Colloquium - Call for papers

The 3rd Cultural Colloquium of the Centre for Contemporary Latin American Studies (CCLAS) at the University of Edinburgh is now open for proposals by postgraduate students wishing to present papers on some aspect of cultural production (music, art, film, literature, architecture, photography and other cultural manifestations) in Latin America.

Calling all Latin Americanist postgraduates!

This free, one-day symposium takes place every year since the Centre’s inception and is part of a Latin-American themed week of events which take place across the University organized by EUSA’s Latin American Society. The aim is to bring together Latin Americanist colleagues from different universities, from PhD stage to more experienced academics, in order to generate fruitful discussions around different aspects of cultural production. This year the keynote address will be delivered by Dr Patricia Oliart, Lecturer in Latin American Studies at the University of Newcastle.

Two places for this event have been set aside this year for Latin Americanist postgraduate students based at the University of Edinburgh. We invite expressions of interest from all students working on some aspect of cultural production (music, art, film, literature, architecture, photography and other cultural manifestations) in Latin America. Students interested in presenting a paper at the colloquium should send a 150-word abstract and short biographical note to the convenors Dr Raquel Ribeiro and Dr Charlotte Gleghorn by Friday December 18th

The selection will be made according to academic rigor and to ensure a diverse spread of regional expertise represented at the colloquium. The language of the presentation should be English. Students will be notified of the outcome in early January.
